Images appearing in Hololens are a cutout. What devices can produce such graphic?

360 camera is a tool to create a VR content. What are the tools to create an AR content? AR's images are cutout. For example, I want to record a flying butterfly, what camera or device can cut out the shape of that butterfly so that only the butterfly (not its environment) appears on Hololens?

I don't know that you need extra hardware as much as you need software, like Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

This makes me think... If creating AR content is more difficultmuch more difficultthan creating VR content, will AR ever be as big as VR?

I would think so. As processing power get's better, I can see this taking off. For example, it wouldn't be hard to determine the sizes of objects in a view. Years ago, we would merge lidar and video data to convert the images into 3D mappings. We could annotate buildings with their height and distance information.

The AR hardware IS much more expensive and limited also. VR hardware/developer kits can be had for 200-500 (I'm thinking the OSVR for example), BUT the Microsoft Hololens developer kit costs 3000!!!!!
