Xiaomi is expected to release a second VR headset in the market dubbed as the Mi VR. The device is slated to be compatible with several Xiaomi handsets along with the recently released Xiaomi Mi Note 2. On the other hand, the company reportedly sold out the Mi Note 2 in just 50 seconds with another handset coming along called the Mi Mix.

The Chinese device manufacturer previously made a mark in VR gaming with the Mi VR Play just a couple of months ago. The device is said to be analogous to the Google Cardboard. Moreover, Xiaomi rolled out the device for only 1 yuan or around $0.15 to the beta testers, according to report.

Xiaomi is believed to take things up a notch with its latest invention, the Mi VR. The device is said to be equipped with a dedicated motion sensor as well as system-level optimizations. The combination of both features is slated to deliver very low latency at around 16ms with reduced motion sickness in a smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi VR is said to be analogous to the likes of the Samsung Gear VR as well as the Google Daydream View. The device is said to use mobile devices like the Mi 5, Mi 5s and and 5s Plus as a display. In addition, the device may also come with a 9-axis inertial motion controller similar to the Daydream controller. It should be noted that the device still features touch control support.

n other news, Xiaomi recently revealed a new smartphone with a curved display like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 reportedly sold out in a mere 50 seconds after it was launched. The device was made available through a flash sale on the company's website for those who pre-registered to purchase the latest phablet, Android Central reported.

Xiaomi is expected to sell the second batch of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 on Nov. 8. In addition, the company will also launch the Mi Mix sporting a near bezel-less design on Nov. 4. It is speculated that the device will sell just as fast if not faster than the Mi Note 2. Watch Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Hands On

Not sure here, I was actually aware of the device just because of the news but not before of it.

The smartphone (Mi Note 2 I think is the name) was pretty expensive to be a brand not as recognized as the big ones, but actually packet a lot of great things inside, great hardware of the size of the biggest brands and flagships, so might not be bad.

Also there no complaining about it so far.

Pretty cool to see Xiaomi developing tech to reduce motion sickness. Curious: Anyone knows if other companies have a similar feature with their HMD unit?

I have this headset. It's very well made. Not cheap plastic like in other similar headsets. Have useful button on the top. Very pleasant to the touch, the plating is made of some soft material.

Much better than VR Box 2.0 in the use and in VR experience.

    As I know we have:
    1) Oculus Rift
    2) HTC Vive
    3) Samsung Gear and Google Daydream
    4) millions cheap Chinese Google cardboard clones

3 and 4 pretty close (I mean they need smartphone to use). In other words we have Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and all other VR headsets with poor graphics based on smartphone as source.

So yes, we have too many VR headsets, but all they just Daydream/Gear VR/Cardboard clones.

We also have a 4k VR headset, starvr, that open source headset I can't remember the name and a couple of others. And none of those need a smartphone, but a pc.

The open Source VR is calle OSVR and it's from Razer, also the PlayStation VR, the Fove 0, Huawei VR headset (works also as a Daydream Headset), LG 360 VR (the ugly and bad lol), the PiMAX 4K and 8K, the Sulon Q (I think it's not for sale so far), the Intel Project Alloy (again, just a project not for sale so far) and I missing like 20 more.

So you are right, there are a lot of headsets right now, also hundreds more from China.

I'm not sure what to make of all these mobile options. I'm of the opinion there are 3 main classes of VR/AR/MR = Desktop Class VR (Vive, Rift, OSVR), MR (Hololens and the new Windows 10 headsets), and mobile. Mobile get split into Gear and Daydream. Everything else is Cardboard.
