Whatever happened to the Google Cardboard Magnet?

I was wondering whatever happened to that feature I don't see it in any of the newer VR headsets, is it now replaced by the blue tooth controllers?

That's right. Daydream requires a BT controller so that Google can incorporate more advanced functionality. I've been looking at the SDK, and that's what it appears to be.

So let's see if I understand the magnet has been phased out in favor of the BT function?
