Interesting question! Depends on what you consider the "full VR experience" Google Cardboard can be had for as little as around 10 dollars, BUT you also need a smart phone which cost 200-800 (depending on model, carrier etc) PLUS service per month. HOWEVER you most likely already have and want the phone anyways. Some would consider this the full experience and good enough. HOWEVER if you REALLY want to do VR right you will consider get either an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, plus a hand controller. Additionally you will need a beefy spec'd PC. You are talking 500-1500 for the headset, and a couple hundred for the hand controller. The Vive includes the controller, BUT it is often about 200 dollars more than the Rift. And the PC you need costs in the 1000-2000 range, 1500 is a good average.

If you REALLY want to do VR right then go to Disneyland! lol They have advanced rides and VR systems that can simulate for example a mission to space, or a ride on a high speed test track. These systems costs amounts we can not even conceive of, like hundreds of thousands and/or millions.
