Writing a blog piece about the new Oculus Go that was announced yesterday. I would rather ask people in this forum who are passionate about VR and technology in general! I want to know what everyone thinks about the new device so I can incorporate that into my work!

I am very interested in this device. The price seems reasonable for a totally stand alone device. Yes GearVR and Daydream are cheaper, BUT you need a 500-1000 phone to pop in there. I’m very curious as to what apps it will support and how they will work. Obviously there is an Android like phone built in to it, so it’s specs are going to be a factor. I’m going to wait and see.

Without positional tracking as well as orientation it seems like it is a step sideways more than a step forward. With all of the inside-out tracking headsets coming out it feels like they should have waited and included a Windows Mixed Reality / Tango style tracking.

On the plus side, the cost is great, and that will keep the VR momentum going and there's nothing wrong with that. =)

If pricing info is to be believed it’s a cheaper way to get in to VR. GearVR, and Daydream require phones that cost in some cases nearly 1000 dollars, but the Oculus Go will retail for around 200.
