The Oculus Go is a good step, but the Vive Focus is the step the industry needs, in my opinion. While the Oculus stand-alone headset is cheap, the Focus has 6 degrees of freedom, and that's the only way to really experience VR.
I tried to sign up for a developer edition, but unfortunately it looks like the sign-ups are limited to China for now.
