On September 8 2016, the official press release of Emmy recorded about 68th Emmy winners. Along all the winners Emmy awarded a prize to Henry a short VR movie as the best Outstanding Original Interactive Program. On September 18 of 2016 Emmy Awards will held live during the Show where the winners will be awarded.

Henry is produced by Oculus Story Studio in 2015. It is the first of its kind short VR storytelling video which won the prize. The cartoon story tells about a hedgehog who seeks for a hug. In the first minutes of movie viewers can watch Henry who are preparing to his birthday party.

Ramiro Lopez who is the director of Henry, told Mashable that their aim is to make viewers feel empathy to the character. Short movie actually differs from other ones, as producers of Henry tried to create warm connection between viewers and Henry, make them want to hug and help Henry.

Oculus Team refers in their official blog post to all VR movie makers that this prize should be an inspiration for them to create Virtual Reality films as they have the worlds attention.

Oculus Story Studio is now working on its next project called Dear Angelica, which is planned to be released till the end of 2016. Those who wants to watch story of Henry can visit to Official website of Oculus.

I've been very eager to experience this, but I don't have a Rift. Is there any reason this cannot be released on the Gear VR? Is positional tracking an issue or does it just come down to computing power?

I already watched and is pretty awesome, also free, also not a lot of GBytes, I think now is the time for people develop free things a create an image and a name in the VR world, there is not really much to see and enjoy so the public/users will download just about everything.

So far we haven't gotten a clear answer on this. Having seen the film, I'm not sure why it isn't available on Gear VR.

Interesting, so no definitive answer. Considering how well it's been received, you'd think they want it available to the masses. However, exclusives exist for a reason, I suppose.

I watched it and you are able move around the room where the history is developed a little bit, but maybe it's not for that, can be marketing issues or because it may requires better hardware for the graphics (which I don't believe).
