Why am I not surprised by this? I don't want to say anything negative about Google but I'll just say this I don't think much of the chromebook so I guess you get the idea, I don't think I would consider the Pixel or Daydream at this time, I wouldn't mind trying them, but it's this kind of of experience that makes me questions Google's foray into the phone and VR realm, I guess only time will tell where it goes.

Phones get warm in VR. All of them. Demo stations are a bad indicator because it's a constant in and out of people using the headset, which means the phone is exposed to that environment for much longer than usual.

That your glasses fogged up isn't necessarily a result of that heat. The lack of airflow in the headset required to cause this is interesting through, especially with the open sides for ventilation.

Still, bad experiences are a terrible thing. What do you think you'd like to try next?

I visited the google pop up store in NYC and tried the daydream headset. Honestly i was really disappointed with the resolution and the fact that the phone got really hot. It made the phone so hot that my glasses fogged up and i had to stop.

I'm still not sure if google has the right approach to VR . A standalone device probably would make more sense, provided it is cheap enough. I'm still not sold on VR as yet

Well yes even Galaxy S6 which has 577 ppi display shows pixelation. I think it's normal to see screen door effect on most smartphones today.

What about the build quality? What about the weight? Is it heavy or light?
Is it comfortable? Outer layer is made of fabric.

I have tried a lot of headsets and they all make the phone extremely hot. i dont think its anything to do with the headset but the processing required by the phone.

I am not surprised because the daydream headset looks like it will hold heat because of the material and the fact you are sealing the phone in the thing. At least with the gear VR it's open on the back.

Daydream will always be budget vr.

To give a comparison, its like buying a $200 phone and comparing it to a flagship.

Very good resort not so much for families on a budget but it is really relaxing it is paradise!!! Mermaids had expensive food though very worth it. House keeping was absolutely perfect but I would personally like other staff to be more happy because of course you are at Day Dream Island!

Cost of ownership. It will outsell the vive and most people will be happy with the experience. I think there's going to be a very small percentage of people willing to invest in the hardware to run a Vive.

Content of course. Content is everything. Sony is in the best position and has a large player base already.

But isn't there a ps4+ of some sort coming out with better hardware for vr?

I think the content point is inescapable. As much as it pains me (I have an Xbox One S) to admit that the PS4 is almost certainly going to be the early winner in VR, it seems clear.

They have a huge user base of gamers, hardware in millions of living rooms, and the head start on content.

My Pixel should be delivered in three weeks. I hope it won't get too hot. I haven't ordered a Daydream yet but I'm still strongly considering it.

I think the problem is that at the store the phone is on and off all the time for demo. That's why it get hot.
And when you put the phone in Daydream heat can build up easily because no ventilation.
