GoPro’s 360-degree camera rig is finally ready to launch. The company recently announced plans to release the Omni, which features six connected GoPro Hero 4 Black cameras, on August 17.

The $5,000 package includes a specially-designed metal cube that houses all six cameras, along with the software and extra hardware needed to record and edit 360-degree videos. That seems a little pricey considering the Hero 4 Black normally costs just $500 (so $3,000 for six of them). You can buy the cube-shaped Omi rig on its own for $1,500, but that also leaves out the extra hardware and software license included in the full package.

GoPro’s new software may actually be the Omni’s biggest selling point. It makes it extremely easy to import your 360-degree videos, at least compared to other current solutions. The physical rig also features a central brain that stitches the cameras together for you automatically and syncs settings for an extremely polished experience.

You can pre-order the Omni on GoPro’s website via the source link below and it should ship on August 17.

There is plenty of options for rigs, but this one looks like the most compact and simplest looking solution. Too much for my blood, though.
