Can virtual reality help us talk politics online? - The Verge

Interesting article about political discussion in VR platforms.
Do you think being in the same (virtual) room will add any accountability to people's behaviour when discussing opposing political opinions?

It will add some, but only because of the ability to understand nuance in voice. Communication gets better as you move from short-form text, to long-form text, to voice, to video, to in-person. Nuances are easier to pick up with the more cues you have.

It hasn't with 3D avatars in the past that I know of, so I'm going to say not likely I think that town hall meetings online are more likely to but that's just my opinion.

Did anyone participate in any VR viewings/discussions for last night's debate?
I watched in on TV with my wife, so no VR for me...
