This program works but you currently have to use a mouse.

    Anyone have any better solutions?
    Does Virtual desktop allow this?

I'm pretty sure virtual desktop works for 360 YouTube videos. I'll test when I get home!

Thanks it would be good to know. I can't get them to play properly using Big screen beta. Shame as it's free.

I just found another one called EnvelopVR which is available on Steam. I might have to give that one a try, too.

So last night I was playing around and here's what I found...

Virtual Desktop: In the 360 video section you can paste a link to a YouTube video and it will download the video and play it locally. I tried it three times and it worked twice and failed once. Not a very seamless experience, but it worked.

Envelope VR: This one is free, and I spent some time getting used to the interface. I couldn't actually locate any way to play 360 video, but it had a really cool method of placing windows in virtual space. It's free, and I definitely recommend checking it out.

I use Virtual Desktop a ton, and the YT 360 stream works just fine for me.

I highly recommend "Whirligig" for the Vive, $3.99 on Steam. I've spent the last week trying to make sense of "Virtual Desktop" and have been unable to get it to play any videos - the closest I got was hearing the video soundtrack while staring at the blank video control panel. Within minutes of installing Whirligig I was watching 3D 360º videos downloaded from YouTube and other sources and also having a ball experimenting with viewing 3D photos I've taken. The best thing about Whirligig is that the control interface remains clearly visible as you go through the various 3D options, making it easy to try different possibilities.

Yeah, virtual desktop is much too difficult and not intuitive at all. They should improve it.

    Cheers
