Wireless module in development for the Vive-405.jpg

The competition between Vive and Oculus is awesome for consumers. =)

The first platform to go wireless will have a serious advantage - and Vive is already working on it (via Wired UK).

They are working with a technology called Quark VR to create a wireless module that would connect to the Vive and use your home wi-fi to connect.

My first concern is how much latency this would add into the mix. Anything that hurts your framerate hurts your experience.

I agree this will be a HUGE step, gonna take some serious hardware though!

Agreed. I'd love to see them pull it off.

It's interesting, because wireless HDMI and wireless USB 3 has been in development for a while, but because the costs are more prohibitive, they kind of stopped exploring those options. Now that there is a huge value to building for these wireless tech's again, I think it will be solved quickly.

This would be a huge step up in terms of making it more viable. I worry a bit about the cost, though - the Vive is already pretty pricey, even compared to other VR Headsets and I doubt making a wireless version will bring down the cost

Even if the price is high for this kind of devices, I think it will find some good market, right now the aerospace and militias programs all over the world are using VR for training and other stuff, and all are suffering the limitations of the wires, let have hope people lol

Yeah, because until they cut the cable, VR is really VC... (Virtual Chair).
