I have a Google cardboard set on the magnet only works when in the certified Google cardboard app. When I try to use the magnet in other Google cardboard apps and games the magnet does nothing. This includes even the Google cardboard camera app which was made by Google. How can I get the magnet to work in other apps?

It's likely that developers must support the use of magnets in their apps and probably not all of them do. What phone do you have? You might be able to use a Gear VR, or Google Daydream IF you have the right phone. Both have much better control systems and/or allow for the use of a handheld controller.
