Right now Google only allows a single Daydream controller to be connected to your phone when it is in the headset. As we move into the next year with new phones coming out, it got me thinking about new controllers for Daydream. I've seen several people wonder out loud why Google doesn't allow a gamepad to connect like you can with the Gear VR, but I think you could accomplish something even better with a second Daydream controller.
With a second controller, your thumbs on both pads could allow for Gamepad-esque steering and control. The buttons on the secondary controller could be mapped for actions in-game instead of returning you to the Daydream menu, and this would take up way less space than a normal gamepad.
Maybe I'm underthinking this, but it seems like a thing google could pull off with relative ease.
