I am looking to buy a headset for gaming. I have used Google cardboard and ordered a daydream view. I am now looking for something for a future Pc build. I'm debating between the HTC Vive or the Rift. I'd love to get the PlayStation view if I could use it for both ps4 and Pc though.

I'm so frustrated, I spent alot of money last year on upgraded cell phone and a $1000 laptop. Of course neither of them are VR ready and they leave me without justification for upgrade so soon. How am I supposed to convince my wife to let me spend $1000+ on new hardware. I think my best shot maybe PS VR on my of ps4 but no way to claim that it's for productivity also as it's a "game system"

Hey guys! I started with Gear VR, because I have a Note 5. Got my kid into Cardboard because he has a S6 Active, which doesn't fit in Gear VR. I recommend for newbies to get Cardboard for pics and videos, Altspace to start interacting with people that have HMDs, and stack your chips. PSVR will definitely be games oriented, but with the new specs required for Rift, about 500 bucks worth of mobo, processor, and video card should be all you need (if you have the rest).

Matthew, I would personally go with Vive ( I have one). By the time you factor in the Oculus Touch and extra sensor, you are a few hundred dollars more than Vive. Vive also has Oculus store support for most titles through Revive (link on GitHub)

iCoerce, it has the specs but probably will not be supported. Samsung is saying that they will make compatible phones, but probably not until the 8 at earliest.

Well, I will be getting a free Daydream headset for buying a Pixel XL (32 GB) so that will be my first real VR experience.

right now, i think the Gear VR is the best, most fleshed out option for using a phone. Cardboard is ok for viewing content but for more interactivity i suggest the Gear VR with a galaxy s7 / edge varients. I think the s6 overheats too quickly.

Would recon you get the samsung VR or Daydream (by Google) depending on the handset you have. Both have amazing features! ATB!

If bugdet is your thing then go for the gear vr if quality is your concern than htc vive. But htc vive is quite a fair bit expensive

Gear VR is definitely worth it IF you have a compatible device. I would not buy a phone strictly to be able to use Gear VR though.

I bought the HTC Vive. Although itīs great I have little time to play with it at the moment so I am regretting it somehow.

I use my Gear VR sparingly but think it is a great idea and future generations will hopefully take it into more mainstream use.

Rift Crushes the Vive now. I would like to hear one thing the Vive does better? Sure it had room scale earlier, but Oculus has better room scale now. The Vive is due for a new model already, while the Rift is just getting going. Software for the Vive seems to be slowi g down as well, and valves support doesn't seem great. And steam VR is awful.

This might seem weird, but I have an Osvr, made by Razer, and it's really good at its $400 dollar price point

I got to try the Oculus Rift earlier this year and loved it. Unfortunately I don't have the income to afford one or the Vive. But I have a buddy that told me he's tried all three (OR, HTCV, and PSVR) and told me that the best one in his opinion was the Vive. Personally I would get the PSVR because of the lower entry point and the fact that everyone I follow online has pretty much nothing but praise for it.
