Can I use the microphone built in to my Samsung Earbuds that came with my S7 Edge with the gear VR headset? I've got them plugged in and I can hear audio and other players, but it won't pick up my microphone and I can't talk.

I use the built in Samsung headphones all the time for that. You just need to make sure that the Gear VR software has permissions in Android to use the mic. If you are not sure, go to the Applications menu in settings and turn on microphone permissions for all Gear VR apps that can use it.

Oculus has a love/hate relationship with bluetooth. I use bluetooth headphones all the time as well, and I can hear all the games and apps just fine; however, some games think I don't have a mic. I'm not sure why, but it is what it is. If you want to ensure all the games that use a mic work, you need to use a wired headset that has a mic.

Just realized you were talking about the ear buds included with the phone which are wired. Have you tried other headphones to see if they work?
