I really am on the fence about this cameras. But than again, I felt the same about the Gear VR until I got a free one.
    We'll see what happens.

Price is going to be the deciding factor for me. That said, I finally got to see some photos someone took with one via the Gear VR today and was very impressed. The vTime social app now lets people share 360 photos and that's how I saw them.

(It is on Amazon right now but is quite expensive).

Yes, price is definitely the deciding factor for the majority of us I would say.

We used this for a wedding. Some of our um, less young guests who are unable to make the trip were able to watch the wedding in a 360 degree video. I think it worked quite well but don't think it will become more popular than regular videos and photos.

Of all the consumer 360 cameras out so far, the Gear is probably the best. If you go on a trip or to a big event, it would be really cool to share a video with family and friends. For general video taking, though, it's not as good as a regular phone camera.

Anyone here have one that can talk about the photo quality when using a Gear VR to view the photos/videos?

There are some videos taken by Gear 360 on youtube and they're awesome.
