    Hi, everyone.

I recently demoed the Vive at a Microsoft store and I can't stop thinking about it. I'm really interested in it, but the $800 price tag is a little too steep for my liking. Do you think there will be any reductions in price in the near future with more and more competition coming out?

Maybe around the holidays. Maybe. It's inner a few months old so I wouldn't expect a price drop for a year at least. And that's best case scenario. This is the top of the line VR and it's only a few months old. Early adopters always pay more. Just ask those people who bought $1,500+ Blu-Ray players in the mid 2000's...

This holiday season will be closest one, but if you want vr headset with reasonable price, my best guess is when next gen headset release, next year?

Price is so hard to swallow. I love cardboard but I can't help but feel how much better a vive would be but not for anywhere near the current cost. Hopefully in another year or two this will come way down.

The thing is that the price of the htc vive makes it pretty hard to buy it although it is a really nice vr headset but we'll see hopefully the price drops sonner than later

This is so hard. I actually have a powerful PC for the first time but I can't justify the price of the Vive to myself.

I wonder how much does it cost to make a Vive. I don't think it's nearing 500$.

I seriously doubt it would be discounted more than $50 at most, atleast initially. Maybe a few years down the line you might see the $500-600 price tag, but then you also have to figure in the cost of the beastly PC set up you'd need to run the thing. Unfortunately cost is a huge draw back to something like the Vive, even though its an incredible experience.

That's the problem I have. I would love to own HTC Vive, I wouldn't even mind paying that price. The main issue is that I would have to invest in a good PC and that's raising the costs dramatically.

Just a small mention. For a limited time it's 100$ off and free shipping (probably only free shipping in the US only though knowing HTC)
