Anyone know if the Nexus 6P will support daydream? I know the 6P was used for the initial dev kit, I'm kinda hoping that it is somehow supported when it is finally released later this year.

It is not an official daydream device, but if you're of the hacking persuasion I wouldn't be surprised if the XDA types have a solution in the coming weeks.

Google mentioned that 6P suffers from thermal throttling while using the app. I've used the developer preview of Daydream on my 6p but you can only use it for few minutes before it gets really hot.

That kinda sucks, stupid snapdragon 810 and it's thermal issues. I guess I can at least try it out on this phone and decide if I like VR enough to upgrade to a Pixel

Yeah most definitely the s810 chip gets hot with continuous heavy usage. I wonder if there is a way with root to tweak it to make it more acceptable for vr

Having used the phone for a year, especially now that Nougat is out, I would not recommend trying to use Daydream. It will really heat up the phone and tank battery life.

I was really disappointed myself, that was one of the reasons why I got the 6P in the first place

I doubt it - the thermal throttling issues of the Snapdragon 810 were pretty notorious, and lead to several early flagships showing poorly in review benchmarks because of it. Google/Huawei seem to have made the most of the later revision since it benchmarks better than early 810 phones, but I doubt there's much thermal headroom there to exploit.

can a software fix from XDA really allow you to play on an incompatible phone though? battery issues and heat aside

I think it's possible but it will mostly depend on your phone's processing capability. The developer version of Daydream works on my 6P, so yeah.

The nexus 6p does not support google daydream because its hardware is not compatible.

Because of hardware limitations Nexus 6P doesn't work with Daydream

The Daydream developer preview on the 6P is not all that functional. The full version wing be supported and if anyone hacks together a workaround the end result will not be enjoyable.
