I've just opened the box, and will be moving in to the phone over the next couple of hours. This is a great opportunity to do a sort of live AMA for the new Phab 2 Pro and it's Project Tango innards. See what we can learn about having a whole AR platform baked into a phone!

Ask your questions here, and I'll answer!

Weird question maybe but I'd really like to know how hot the phone gets running Tango.

What features of the Phab 2 are you looking forward to try?

What kind of specs does that bad boy have? It LOOKS pretty big, I'm guessing in the 5.5 inch Pixel XL/ iPhone 7 Plus range, but what else is it packing? If you can say.

Actually, this phone is considerably underpowered if you look at the specs!

The games are so much fun, but I'm looking forward to seeing how accurate things like spatial measuring is. It'd be very cool to see this used as a commercial tool to help folks

The original demo I did with Lenovo got warm pretty quick, but 20 minutes of AR games later and this phone isn't much warmer.

How is the initial software that came bundled with it? Any stand-out experiences?
How is the camera for just taking pictures?

It's pretty close to Google stock Marshmallow. I'll grab some screenshots and take some photos in the morning. It's so dark here already!

The Phab 2, being Tango-enabled, would you see yourself self using it as your primary phone?

Wow, I didn't know pretty much about this device.

Here some doubts, how is the surrounding detection working?
any software or app to see what the phone is mapping?
Any clue if it will be Daydream compatible?
It's not the most powerful device, but how optimized it's?

Something I always want but the answer is mostly disappointing any scuba housing will be released for it? lol just joking.

I'm struggling to be OK with a phone this large in my pocket. Here's a photo of it next to the Pixel XL.

No scuba housing announcements yet, but that would be kinda awesome.

This will never be Daydream compatible because the processor isn't a snap 821 or better. While it has been heavily optimized for Tango, this is not an especially powerful phone.

I'll grab some screenshots of the computer vision stuff shortly

I used that for a while too! This isn't quite as big, but it's a little thicker due to the cameras and battery.

Hey Russel, can we have some captures from the mapping? a video or pictures?

I'm too curios about how it works indoors and outdoors.

How is the actual day to day performance of the phone? I know the specs are somewhat underwhelming, BUT others have done a LOT with a little. How's the actual day to day on the device? Does the AR stuff enhance the device while not hindering performance too much?
