Im looking into purchasing Oculus for my son.. My question is.. Do you have to have a PC? Is there any way that he could connect it to his xbox one console?

Hi, welcome to the Forum, I invite you to register in order to follow this and any other question you may have more easily but also because AR and VR are amazing.

Regarding to your question, so far there is not a way to connect the Oculus Rift to a XBOX in order to have a VR experience, with Project Scorpio (XBOX One X) there is not many news or information of how it will perform (if will) in VR, because of that maybe the best next thing could be getting a PS4 + the PSVR headset bundle.

Another option could be getting a PC with the minimum requirements and the Oculus Rift if that the headset you want, but it will be more money than getting the PS4 option.

Anyways here are some links for the Oculus and PS4 options I found:
Oculus Rift + Touch Virtual Reality System and MSI Trident 3 VR7RC-020US Gaming Desktop GTX 1060 i5-7400 8GB 1TB Windows 10 VR Ready Bundle

PlayStation VR Bundle 4 Items:VR Headset,Playstation Camera,PlayStation 4,VR game disc PSVR Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

    Both for Amazon USA

I hope this answer helped you.

Would be sweet if that does indeed happen.

Xbox One X will at some point, just not at launch.

Altspace is a play to make that more of a reality. I just don't see it happening until at least a year from now.

Just updating this, looks like in the best scenario we will be able to see an Xbox1X compatibility with some VR HMD maybe next year because they are not in a hurry of create for the niche right now.
