Would you consider screen door effect a deal breaker when looking to buy a VR headset taking all other pros and cons in to consideration?
    This generation.

Not me. I would be more inclined to get a Vive or Rift because it can do more than just gaming. I've been dealing with screen door for a while on my Gear VR and I don't have an issue with it.

Agreed. Definitely a downside, but not a deal breaker. I love my PC and anything I can attach to it.

I think it hugely depends on the titles you use. For a majority of games, the SDE hasn't been a problem with my HTC Vive, but it definitely changes between experiences. With titles designed for VR this hasn't been a frequent issue, mostly due to how immersive they are. With some titles, which have introduced VR after launch, the SDE has been a huge issue and ruined the experience. I think it varies between experiences, but is mostly just a minor downside to deal with.

I played Project Cars in Rift with a haptic feedback seat and steering wheel. I might have been having too much fun getting knocked around to notice SDE -- I didn't find it very bad at all.

They both rule!! I have a full cockpit with tactile transducers and a sparco torino II seat.
Race sim is by far my favorite VR experience

Very cool. What's the ballpark price for a setup like that if you don't mind me asking?

I built the cockpit myself using Ricmotech's plans ($35) with about $150 worth of materials. The wheel/pedal/shifter kit (logitech G27) was about $250 on sale (it has been discontinued and the new model is closer to $400 I think) The seat I use is well over $1000, but you can get away with one for around $200, I just happened to have my seat left over from my truck. You will also need a seat slider ( $30 )
The tactile transducer setup was $450 for a pair of transducers, and $200 for a subwoofer plate amp to drive them.
