What hardware needs to be present on your phone for Vr to function correctly?

You need something that is compatible with Cardboard for any of Google's current efforts. For Gear VR, a Samsung S6 series, S7 series, or Note5 or 7(NEW MODEL ONLY). LG G5 has its own system.

Do you mean Software maybe? What type of phone do you have and what are you looking to do?

I have the honor 5. I really just want to try out VR. When i say hardware I mean like parts inside the phone. Accelerometer, and things like that. Thanks for the answers but not really what I was looking for.

Ah yes. I thought maybe you were referring to what apps people use to view in vr. Such as 360 or Plain Vr. Those are what I use but I also use a Windows Phone so..

To answer the clarification, most modern Android phones have the accelerometers needed to get positioning. The higher density the screen, the better - the resolution is cut in half due to the stereoscopic viewing. The faster the proc and more RAM, better.

Google cardboard will work for you. As a side note cardboard also works for Apple phones.
