VR that connects to a PC will be more than 100, it will be in the 300-400 range or more. For less than 100 you are looking at headsets that connect to a phone, either Google Cardboard (some ARE plastic or metal), Google Daydream View (limited phone support it), or GearVR (limited Samsung phones support it). In the case of Daydream and Gear you would be looking at used equipment to keep the costs below 100. And your phone matters. If you went the "cardboard" route, any phone will work, and the cost will be under 100. VergeVR is a good choice, its made of a "nerf" like foam and its light and comfortable.
