I'm looking for a budget(ish) mobile headset that's as similar to the Bobo Z4 as possible (in comfort, price and lens focus, though better is always welcome), however I would prefer to use my own set of headphones rather than a built-in set.

For reference I will be using a 5.5 inch 2560x1440 screen and... ahem... "modifying" the front of whatever headset I get. Just ask if you want details...

My recommendation would be the Merge VR. The purple one is usually a couple bucks cheaper, it's a LITTLE more than you want to spend, BUT it has come down in cost significantly since it was released. It used to retail for around 80 bucks, BUT it's now around 30.....

IF you want to go balls to the wall, and get a reasonable price serious VR headset, you might want to consider the Oculus Go at 200. It's standalone and does not require a phone OR PC, although there is an Oculus app for your phone, that is a companion app, and lets you download or buy apps AND see what events are coming.
