What you're seeing in Daydream is the VR mode that was meant to be captured in the Cardboard Camera app. Since there's only one camera sensor on your phone, Google is capturing twice the number of frames needed and creating a stereoscopic image. The downside, especially with early versions of this app, is that a lack of OIS in the camera means it's difficult for those two captured frames to be exactly aligned. This causes the visual jaggedness you're experiencing. You don't see this on the app without Daydream because your phone is only showing you the single frame.
I've found VR mode looks much, much nicer when taken with a tripod. That didn't help your current photos look nicer, unfortunately, but it's the only solution I've found so far.
