How to repair headset tracking?

Essentially no matter what I do my Vive will be unable to see the base stations. However at random this will change briefly (meaning I can play for at a maximum of 2 minutes before it stops tracking again, however it tends to last only a moment or two). I've been using this system for about a year and it is noticeably worn. Is there any way to fix this issue?
