    From what I have read, the controller is not directly communicating with the headset, but with the phone. That being said, could I purchase the Samsung VR controller fob and a different headset and get the same experience? I have seen some highly rated headsets on Amazon with attached headphones but they do not come with remotes. Any info or suggestions would be great. Anyone else in the forums purchased this way? Thanks, D

    That's a really good question. I'm not sure if the GearVR controller supports Google cardboard headsets. I DO know that there are remotes you can buy that do, such as.....

    Gear VR requires a Gear VR headset. There's actually a chip with a special instruction set that works with Oculus software in Gear VR headsets, and it's required to make Gear VR work.
