18:9 screen resolution really cool?

It's nice to be able to reach across the phone with one hand, but it seems mostly like a novelty right now.

Well actually 2:1 or 18:9 is aspect ratio, the resolution is about the amount of pixels and if you are referring to the S8 the screen resolution is really good!

Also the aspect ratio has some pros and cons, but more a thing os preferences I think.

It's a bit up in the air at the moment with regards to the 2:1 or 18:9 and its usefulness. If we look back at TV's and their aspect ratios. Traditionally, televisions were made in a square shape with a 4:3 or 1.33:1 aspect ratio. but since HDTV has become standard, TVs are now made in a rectangular shape referred to as a 16:9.

So with that being said, it is possible that the new 18:9 ratio could take hold and becomes the new standard but only time will tell. For now, with so little content being made for it, its not really that beneficial

Well a pretty all subject but something to remember related to VR is most screen are only projecting a region of the whole display





So that won't be affecting the VR experience so far, maybe it will make useful for VR if the companies change the way of creating the stereoscopic view on the HMD (Head Mounted Display).
