I'm not quite sure what the question here is, but they're both good, imo. Right now I'm focusing on VR, as that's all I've got, but if I can get hold of decent AR glasses, I would definitely do that.

    VR or AR
there is always a third option, MR, while AR stand for adding something to the reality MR stands for adding something and being able to interact a little bit more with it, in fact, the HoloLens by Microsoft are MR while the Pokemon GO is AR.

But I don't have to chose, I want it all because are for different things

I'm super pumped for the hololens to come out. Have they announced a release date yet? Not that I can afford it... but it's SO stinkin' cool.

    Lets have both

They both have their pros and cons. From an AR point of view, seeing something appear on your screen or classes that looks like its actually standing in front of you is awesome. Maybe I'm being swayed a little by Pokémon Go but i think thats awesome. VR is good for 'travel' movies and Apps. Allowing me to do full 360 turn and see whats happening all around me. I really love that So it would be hard to decide.

I haven't see any public release dates yet but they did hand out some to developers a couple months ago. If you want to buy one, it's about $3,000. So definitely not for consumer market at the moment. Apparently they have 150 Apps for it so far which is promising.

Conversations like this are why I hope XR catches on as a way of referring to the whole ecosystem. I want a full virtual experience when I'm gaming, but there's so much potential for augmented experiences in everyday life that I'd hate to think we can only have one or the other.

Sorry about my ignorance, what would "MR" be, more precisely?

MR would be Mixed Reality. Where you have a mix of virtual and real elements, like how the Hololens works.

Thanks. It sounds like a natural way to go.

I totally thought the hololens was AR, but it definitely is mixed... can be both VR and AR. Are there any similar products coming out, or is the hololens it for now?

I think both are good and have great great potential for more than just gaming, especially VR. Imagine popping on a VR headset and controlling a real vehicle or some kind of robot in real time, Send an avatar robot off to work in some dangerous working environment while you're in the safety of your own house or big arsed fighting robots in an arena . Plus being partially sighted myself I think Virtually reality and augmented reality will have great benefits for the visually impaired too
